Wyatt
Sheppard
Jan 6, 1984 — Jul 1, 2018
Pinedale
Robert "Wyatt" Sheppard was born January 6, 1984 at St. John's Hospital in Jackson, Wyoming, to R. Craig and Ellen K. Sheppard. Wyatt had two half-brothers, Ralph Shamas, Jr. of Houston, Texas, and David Sheppard of Missoula, Montana. His half-sister Tara Hall lives in Burke, Virginia.
Wyatt attended school in Pinedale, kindergarten through high school, and graduated in 2002. He went on to attend college at Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana, where he pursued a degree in Environmental Engineering Science and Kinesiology. He played his trumpet in the college jazz band and also participated on the college hockey team. His love for Pinedale brought him back to his home town where he worked at various jobs and was employed by Superior Roustabouts at the time of his death.
Wyatt participated in many outdoor clubs and organizations and was a member of USA Hockey as a player, coach and referee. He was affiliated with Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church.
Wyatt had many hobbies and interests. If it was outside he did it. He enjoyed the Wind River Mountains and all of its lakes and streams to the maximum. He loved snow machining and hunting in the Horse Creek area where he would lead his dad on many misadventures. Fremont Lake was where he loved to boat, wakeboard, camp and fish; but where he felt the most comfortable was on hockey rinks across the Rocky Mountain Region. His home rink, where he learned to skate at three years old, was his favorite place to be. Wyatt loved to root for the University of North Dakota "Fighting Sioux" hockey team. He attended their hockey schools in Grand Forks, North Dakota, for nine summers where he refined his hockey skills under many future NHL players. This is where he learned his gritty hockey style and smooth skating skills.
Survivors include his parents: Ellen and Craig Sheppard, siblings: Ralph (Mary) Shamas, Jr., David Sheppard and Tara (Frank) Hall: nephew Kurt Hall and niece Shyanne Hall.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Willeta G. Stanley, Wyatt Richard Stanley, Robert E. Sheppard and Clarice G. Sheppard.
Per his wishes he was cremated and his ashes were spread at his favorite spots throughout the county.
In lieu of flowers, his family wishes memorials to be sent to the Pinedale Hockey Association in Wyatt's name. Mailing address is Pinedale Hockey Association – PO Box 552 – Pinedale, WY 82941.
Wyatt Sheppard, 34, of Pinedale, Wyoming, passed away Sunday, July 1, 2018 at his home in Pinedale.
