On the evening of March 30th, 2023, our Lord Jesus Christ welcomed William Francis Doyle
(Bill) age 68, into his loving arms. Bill determinedly spent his last few weeks on this earth
surrounded by his siblings, children, grandchildren, friends, and loving wife Michele, sharing
stories, reminiscing and in Doyle Family tradition raising a ruckus around a table of good food.
Though tinged with sorrow, Bill's last days were spent surrounded by immense love, laughter
and joy.
Both natives of Casper, WY, Bill first met the love of his life, Michele, in the 6th grade at St.
Anthony's School. Michele fondly recalls developing a childhood crush, but the two would not
formally become a couple until they reconnected in July of 1985 at St. Anthony's Church. They
were married August 1, 1987 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church.. The family moved to their
Porcupine Creek home in Jackson Wyoming in November, 1990 and in June 2019, they moved
to Pinedale, WY.
Bill's formative years were spent playing sports, cribbage, piano lessons, family campouts and
exploring the neighborhood on South Jefferson Street. He is a graduate of Kelly Walsh High
School, Class of 1973, and later went on to earn his BA in Communications at the University of
Wyoming. He was a proud member of the Kelly Walsh Trojannaires Choral Group conducted by
Glenn Vliet and the choir was invited to sing at Northwest Division MENC in Portland, Oregon
his senior year. The life-long friendships from that group were planning on singing their
signature song "In Peace and Joy I Now Depart" at their 50th Class Reunion in September
2023.
Bill was an eloquent, bold but calm speaker. He loved proclaiming the Word of God as a lector
and serving as Eucharistic Minister at mass. He faithfully attended and served at St. Anthony's
Catholic Church in Casper, Our Lady of the Mountains in Jackson, and Our Lady of Peace in
Pinedale. He was a prayerful man dedicating his life to service with the Knights of Columbus, a
Catholic Fraternal Organization.
Bill was an avid softball player, music aficionado, and a member of the Casper Wheelmen and
Snake River Cycle Club in Jackson. He trained daily on his road bicycle, whether outside or on
the trainer inside, and loved riding and racing. The friends he made along the rides and races
are numerous and he loved to share stories of their racing days.
Bill first learned the skills of his plumbing trade from his father and would develop into a trusted
and often requested master plumber. He was a jack of all trades and spent many hours
remodeling the family home(s). Anytime he encountered a problem, Bill would always say,
"There's a tool for that!" Bill was generous with his talents, and would show up in times of need
with or without being asked; whether a family member needed a toilet fixed or a pipe burst at the
church. Bill was always there in a heartbeat to give his time and service with a cheerful heart.
He loved spending time in the kitchen, creating delicious meals for his family and friends, baking
cookies, perfecting his cheesecake, or experimenting with a new (and quickly mastered)
gourmet dish. Family and friends relished being asked over for dinner or holidays because they
knew their stomachs and palates were in for a treat (and of course good company and
conversation). Bill would prepare fresh cookies for the score table at every home game he
announced. While in treatment at St. John's Oncology, Bill brought cookies and even shared his
recipes with the staff.
Bill's love and knowledge of sports was vast, and over the years he has shared it with many
young athletes, fans and fellow coaches and avid parents. For many years, he was known as
the voice of the Jackson Broncs and after moving to Pinedale became the voice of the Pinedale
Wranglers. He not only volunteered as a baseball umpire in the early years in Jackson, but
helped rebuild the Jackson Hole Youth Baseball programs by applying for and securing grant
funding for the much needed field and concession stand improvements at Giants Field. Many
Little League, Babe Ruth League, and travel baseball teams called him "coach" and many more
friendships were forged through youth sports. Bill also served as General Manager for Giants
Baseball.
He made bicycle repairs whether for his grandchildren or friends of grandchildren and neighbor
kids seeking a repair to a bicycle. Their reward was twice fold as they knew Bill kept a stock pile
of Cream Soda, Root Beer, Bubble Up, Grape Soda, etc, in glass bottles that they would enjoy
as their bicycle(s) were tended to.
Above all, Bill loved our Lord, loved his wife, children, parents, siblings, nieces and nephews
and all of his and Michele's many friends! Anyone who has spent time around the Doyle family
has learned that family is not defined by blood relations alone, but by the love that is shared
between each other! Bill was a deeply spiritual, gracious, and devoted man!
Bill was born the fourth of six children to his parents Frank and Carol Doyle on September
30th,1954 in Casper, Wyoming. Bill is survived by his brothers and sisters, Marie (Bill) Siebert,
Tom (Deb) Doyle, Don (Wendy) Doyle, Mike (Peggy) Doyle and Eileen (Ron) Auflick.
Bill and Michele raised 4 amazing children together: Matt Neubauer (Carla), Julie (Dale)
Woolwine, Scott (Robin) Neubauer, and Christian (Hailey) Doyle. He is further survived by his
grandchildren: Kylee (Brodie), Grace, Caine, Eva, Reece, Taggart, Grayson and Charlie Brooke.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Brother-In-Law Bill Siebert, Sister-In-Law Debbie Doyle
and Joy Lynn Doyle, Nephew Michael Hennesy Doyle, Granddaughters Sidney Neubauer and
Abbie Mae Woolwine.
On Friday, April 14th at 6:00 p.m. the Rosary will be prayed for Bill, and all are invited. The
Funeral Mass is Saturday, April 15th at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Pinedale,
WY with lunch to follow in the St. Joseph's Hall.
