Obituary

Morris "Sonny" Alexander, 80, passed away peacefully in the early hours of September 26, 2020 in his Marbleton, Wyoming home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Monday October 5, 2020 at Daniel Historic Schoolhouse in Daniel, Wyoming with Ken Marincic officiating over services.  There will be a viewing from 10:00-10:45 for those wishing to pay last respects before services begin.   Burial will follow at Daniel Cemetery.  Arrangements are provided by Covill Funeral Home in Pinedale, Wyoming.

Morris "Sonny" Alexander was born in Gaithersburg, Maryland to Russell and Alice Alexander on December 9, 1939.  He went to school and grew up in Gaithersburg, Maryland.    He married Lynne Carol Dalton on August 6, 1988 in Pinedale, Wyoming. He was previously married to Charlotte L Alexander (deceased) from 1960-1970.  He had two children, Sheila and Kenny with Charlotte.    He worked as a Surveyor Engineer for State of Wyoming Dept of Transportation for 20 years. He spent 43 years as a Surveyor (both private and state).  He served in the Maryland Army National Guard from February 1962- November 1967 as a Specialist 4 Heavy Weapons Infantry and was awarded a Honorable Discharge.   He was involved in National Rifle Association (NRA), American Hunt Club, and the American Legion.    His hobbies and passion included hunting (elk, deer, antelope, moose), golf, and competitive horseshoes pitching in which he took 5 th place World Tournament in 1996 and 1998.

Sonny is preceded in death by Russell & Alice Alexander (parents), Micky Harding (half-brother), Bucky Alexander (brother), and Melvin Sweatfield (step-son).

Sonny is survived by his wife of 35 years Lynne Alexander,  Sheila Alexander (daughter), Kenny Alexander (son), Ken (Rachael) Casper (step-son), Bobbie (Yvonne) Sweatfield (step-son), Laura (Scott) Broadhead ( step-daughter), Rose (Don) Neely ( sister), 11 grandkids, 15 great grandkids, and many nieces and nephews along with many lifelong friends.

Pallbearers will be Greg Rouse, Scott Broadhead, Bill Goede, Mike Vargo, Lou Roberts, Lewie Roberts, Ken Casper (honorary)
