Ross Calvert, 92, of Pinedale, WY was born June 21, 1922 and passed away April 16, 2015. He was the oldest of six children born to Lloyd and Margaret (Mills) Calvert. He was born in Lander, WY and graduated high school in Lander. He joined the Navy in September of 1942, serving in the Aleutians and South pacific. He was honorably discharged in 1946. He then went to work on a dude ranch in Jackson then married Darleen Saunders. To this union three children were born; David, Duane, and Kathy. He then worked for Bill and Jeanette Wilson. In 1960 he leased the Moorcroft Place in Pinedale. Ross was a Wyoming Livestock Inspector from 1961 to 1991. He served on the Sublette Co. Fair Board for 20 years. Ross and Darleen sold their place in Pinedale and moved to Lewiston, Montana in 1991. This was their retirement dream and had a beautiful lawn and garden, they had hay to sell that wasn't irrigated. Darleen passed away in 1993. Ross was a member of the United Methodist Church, the Lewiston Senior Citizens Club and the V.F.W. He married Freeda Batke in 2000. His health started to fail in 2012 so he sold his place in Lewiston and came back home to the retirement center in Pinedale. He is survived by his sons David (Janie) Calvert of Broadus, MT Duane Calvert of Riverton, WY; eight grandchildren Jonnie (Cody) Wright of Pinedale, WY Colleen (Jason) Phipps of Jordan, MT Brian, Carrie & Kaitlin Calvert of California, Hattie Calvert of Riverton, WY and Michael (Stephanie) Gillham of Salt Lake City, UT; 17 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He is precede in death by his parents, wife Darleen, daughter Kathy Gillham, granddaughter Sheila Gillham, four brothers and one sister. Funeral services were held Tuesday April 21st in Pinedale. Interment and military honors were in the Pinedale Cemetery. A funeral service will be held Tuesday April 21 at 11:00 A.M. at the Church of the Resurrection in Pinedale. Interment and military honors will follow in the Pinedale Cemetery.
