Ronald Verl (Ron) Johnson of Boulder, WY, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2022, at the age of 80 in Pinedale, WY.

Ron is survived by his son, Stan Johnson of Evanston, WY, and his wife, Patricia Lee Johnson, of Boulder, his step-children, Lesli Schmutz of Moss Beach, CA; Lorry Brotherton of Tulsa, OK; and Jim Schmutz of Highland Village, TX. His brother, Carl Johnson and his wife Frances of Elko, NV, and his sister, Janet Little and her husband Bill of Alba,TX, also survive him. Ron was preceded in death by his father, Verl Elmer Johnson, and his mother, Emily Idonna Wall Johnson. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Judy Johnson.

Ron was born in Salt Lake City, UT, on November 11, 1941. He attended and graduated from Hannah High School in Hannah, WY, in 1959.

After high school Ron worked in underground uranium mining in Wyoming; then he returned to Hannah to work in an open pit coal mine. He then moved to Cheyenne, where he worked as a diesel mechanic for Consolidated Freight Ways. Later moving to Pinedale, Ron worked in road construction driving heavy equipment in Wyoming and logging in Alaska.

Ron was known for telling stories of his adventures as a young man and teasing anyone that he thought deserved teasing. Ron was great at tinkering with any vehicle that had an engine. He could fix almost any vehicle that did not have an automatic transmission or a computer. He loved his grandchildren and nieces and playing and talking to all children that were around him. Ron will be missed for his love of the outdoors and his attachment to the land where he lived. No service is planned.

Ron is a beloved husband, father, step-father, grandfather and friend. "I am from Grandpa who gives me rocks and likes them like me."
