Randy Wayne Whinnery was born February 23, 1964 in Fort Sumner, New Mexico to James and Willene Whinnery. He was the younger brother of James Whinnery Jr. In the summer of 1969 his family made the move to Big Piney, WY where he would remain for the rest of his life.
Randy was an active child and was born loving the outdoors. He especially loved hunting, fishing, and trapping. He also loved horses, mules, and snowmachines. Randy graduated from Big Piney Highschool. During which time he made some lifelong friends. In his youth he worked for some local ranchers but eventually settled into a career in oilfield service.
Randy married Janna Nichols June 19 th 1995 and to this union was born two beautiful daughters, Autumn Sage, and Aspen Brook. On June 28 th 2008 he married Callie Morgart and a wonderful blended family came to be. Callie brought with her a daughter Tazia and son Wyatt. Together they had Randa Lynn and the family was complete. Randy was a devoted father and loved his family. He helped his kids develop interest in the outdoors. Elk hunting was one of the family favorites. There were many great times spent on the mountain with Callie, their kids, his dad, and extended family.
Randy was known for his dry sense of humor, great laugh and was always up for good conversation especially down at the coffee club every morning with his buddies. He loved calling Big Piney home.
Randy passed away at home at the age of 57 after a brief illness on August 15, 2021. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and community. He is survived by his wife Callie Whinnery, daughters Autumn, Aspen and Randa Whinnery , daughter Tazia Morgart, son Wyatt Quintard, and granddaughter Layla Quintard. Also his father James T. Whinnery and brother James(Jeannie) Whinnery. He was preceded in death by his mother Willene Whinnery.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Randy Whinnery Memorial Fund by stopping by any Bank of the West Branch or mailing donations to Bank of the West PO Box 428 Big Piney WY 83113.
A funeral service will be held Saturday August 21 st at 11:00 AM at the Marbleton Senior Center. Interment will follow the service in the Plainview Cemetery.
