Paul B. Gransden, 68, was born in Ogden UT on March 18, 1948.  He passed away January 18, 2017 peacefully at his home on 40 Rod with his family by his side.  Pauls parents, Wesley J Gransden and Janet A Gransden ranched and owned a dairy farm in the Ogden area.  When Paul was 5 Yrs old in 1953, the family moved to Mt. Green, Utah that's when Sister Jean joined the family they continued the ranching business for the next ten years.  Paul and his dad spent a lot of time at the auction barns buying, selling and trading horses.  Paul became a good horseman at an early age.  He was active in youth horse activities and breaking colts.  Paul attended Morgan Utah Valley Schools.  He excelled in the wrestling program there and soon become involved in the sport of rodeo.  Thanks to the late Jack Hannum and Shorty Thompson, a very special friend and mentor, Paul became schooled in many events- riding broncs was his favorite.  In 1963, the family moved to Daniel, WY. Paul was 15 years old.  They purchased the Phillips Warren Place just north of Daniel on the Green River.  It's still known today as the Gransden Place.  Paul attended Pinedale High School, and continued to rodeo, break colts and work on the ranch.  Paul and his friends spent many hours at the Pinedale Rodeo Grounds practicing on anything that would jump or grew hair. In 1969, Paul and several others moved to Clovis, California to ride bucking horses.  He worked for Bob Robinson while there, putting on bronc riding schools, while hitting as many rodeos as possible. When he returned to Sublette County, he worked for many of the local ranchers and outfitters.  In 1973, Paul started working for the State of Wyoming, During his years there, Paul became a master of many skills.  From running hot plants to plowing the Rim every day.  He retired, after 30 years, in 2003.  He continued to drive truck for several different companies, until 2012 when due to health problems he retired.  Paul had many passions, but first and foremost was his family; he was a people person and never met a stranger.  He had many friends far and wide, and never forgot a face.  He rodeoed, run chariot horses, judged rodeos, shot pool, shod horses and hunted, lived and loved the upper Green.  Even as a young person, Paul always had time to help the younger kids weather teaching rodeo skills or shoeing a horse. Paul married Lory Stevie March 29, 1976.  He is survived by his wife of 41 years, 3 sons: Billy (Coleen) Mike (Allison) and Todd (Bev) and 6 grandchildren: Frankie Grace, Jubal Lee, Hadley Winn, Rochelle, Ryanne, Chance Michael. Sister Jean (Elmer) Vick, Aunt Afton (Howard) Bloxham.  Paul was preced in death by his parents Wes and Janet Gransden, his God parents Jim & Ruby Toomer of Lyman, WY.  Jim Toomer, being the great man he was, nicknamed Paul "Little Wild horse". The family requests in lieu of flowers, that donations be made to the Reid Schouboe Scholarship Fund-Ride for Reid. A memorial service will be held Friday January 27th at 1:00 P.M. at the Pinedale Community Church (UCC). Family and friends will gather, following the services at the Pinedale V.F.W.
