Pinedale

Obituary

Our beloved Mike Ramsey died September 14, 2019, near his home in Pinedale, Wyoming. He was born in Walnut Creek, California July 18, 1960, (as a tourist baby) to Evelyn and Don Ramsey. Mike was 59 years old.

Mike will be remembered by his friends and family as a wonderful storyteller who loved sharing epic tales of hunting and time spent in the Wyoming mountains. (We all loved to hear his grizzly bear stories). His time as a hunting guide provided many tales told with a convincing, warm voice. He had an instinctive sense of what was important to life and detail. He had an infectious laugh that will never be forgotten, and eyes that twinkled when he was warming up to a good story.

Mike loved to ride horses especially in the Wind River Range. He was a cowboy at heart. He loved people, cooking, history and talking religion and politics. He was an accomplished artist, painting images of the American West. Each painting, a one-of-a-kind original in spellbound detail. Mike loved all people, his family, and the Lord with all his heart and mind. He was always trusting and kind to everyone. You couldn't have a better friend.

Mike worked 27 years for the Highway Department in Sublette County, Wyoming, and another ten years for the BLM. Mike was also a volunteer firefighter.

Even though Mike never married, or had children of his own, he shared his life with his best friend and companion, Ellen Ramsey. He was a father in his heart and was always there for nieces and nephew, Jennifer Ramsey, Rachael Makowski, Fallon Ramsey, Haley Harber, and Colton Ramsey.

Mike is survived by his brother Scott Ramsey and wife Sheri, their children, Fallon, Colton, Hailey and husband Jeff Harber and their children Audrey and Monelle. Ellen Ramsey, Jennifer Ramsey and children Zachariah and Randilee. Rachael and her husband Brant Makowski and children Evelyn and Hazel. And preceded in death by his parents, Evelyn and Don Ramsey. Mike will be dearly missed in the Pinedale community.
