Maxine Murillo
Sambrano
Jan 1, 1954 — Jun 18, 2019
Big Piney
Maxine Murillo Sambrano passed away on June 18, 2019 surrounded by her loved ones. Maxine Murillo was born January 1, 1954 to Sismundo and Susie Murillo in Las Cruces, NM as the second of five children, after her only brother Basilio, followed by her three sisters Helen, Dolores, and Terry. As the oldest girl she took care of her siblings as if they were her own children. She was born with the motherly instinct that was admired most about her. She attended Holy Cross Elementary and since then was a very devout Catholic. While attending Lynn Junior High school, Maxine met a persistent boy named Ramon, nicknamed "Butter". Though spending weeks scolding him for stepping on her white tennis shoes, she finally agreed to go on a date with him. Since that day her and "Butter" were inseparable, along with her sisters Dolores and Terry, since Maxine was not allowed to go anywhere without them. "Butter" and Maxine were married in Las Cruces on July 6, 1974 and the next year they welcomed their first child Virginia, followed by the births of their sons Roman and Carlos. Then 8 years later they were surprised by the birth of their second daughter, Monica. Their family was now complete - 2 boys and 2 girls just as they always wanted. Maxine attended IBC to finish her Business degree and began working for an Optometrist, Dr. Jeffrey Bowers, where she stayed for 18 years. Throughout her life, Maxine took care of everyone around her, and never complained. When anyone called or was in need she didn't think twice before giving whatever she could and all the time she could spare. As her children were growing up, they would bring neighborhood kids or school friends home for dinner. She would never turn anyone away and as such, there were many mornings she would wake up to kids scattered from one end of the house to the other. During this time, Maxine also took great care of both her mother and her grandmother until their passing. At age 58, Maxine decided she wanted to be closer to the majority of her grandchildren in Wyoming, where she enjoyed the beautiful and peaceful scenery. She began working at RS Bennett Construction in Big Piney. She loved her job, the people she worked with, and appreciated that she had the flexibility to spend time with her family. Maxine wouldn't miss any of her grandchildren's athletic games, music concerts, or school events. She was always their biggest and loudest cheerleader. In her free time, Maxine taught CCD at St. Anne's Catholic Church and would volunteer whenever they needed her. Maxine is preceded in death by her parents, Sismundo and Susie, father-in-law Manuel Sambrano Sr., sister Helen Telles, and brother-in-law Steven Sambrano. She is survived by her husband Ramon, sons Roman(Neilou) Sambrano of Big Piney, WY; Carlos Sambrano of Las Cruces, NM; daughters Virginia Sambrano of Great Falls, MT; Monica(Shaun) Sevenski of Big Piney, WY; brother Basilio(Elva) Murillo of Las Cruces, NM; sisters Dolores(Ramon) Borrego of Rio Rancho, NM; Terry(Danny) Teran of Farmington, NM; grandchildren Angelica, Adrian, Alize Sambrano; Alexis, Xavia, Cecilia, Marisela Sambrano; Joshua and Mylie Sambrano; Izaiha, Audree, Liberty, Arrey, Joziah, and Anju-Lee Sevenski; great-grandchildren Aliza Sambrano and Caylub Norby; and many nieces and nephews that she loved like her own children. A Rosary-Vigil will be held Sunday evening June 23rd at 6:00 PM at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Big Piney. Funeral Mass will follow the next morning June 24th at 11:00 AM at the church. Family and friends will gather for a reception following the service at the Marbleton Senior Center.
