Mary Thomas Sour entered into eternal rest March 4, 2016 at the Life Care Center in Idaho Falls, ID Mary Thomas was born January 9, 1931 in Pinedale, WY to William "Bill" and Bertha Thomas. She attended schools in Pinedale and Green River, WY. She married Fred Lowe in Green River, WY and to this union their daughter Linda was born. They later divorced. She married Lon W. "Wes" Pape and to this union their daughter Dixie was born. They later divorced. On March 30, 1972 she married the love of her life William "Bill" Sour. A few years later they adopted their son Travis, who was seven years old at the time. In his early years when Bill worked at the Miller and Pfisterer Ranches he became infatuated with a lovely young lady that lived at the Warren Bridge Store. Every time he went by the store he just had to have a "soda pop" and see Mary. Years later they married and the rest is history. Mary started working at the Pinedale school district lunch program in the fall of 1959 and retired from the program 28 years later. Her kind and gentle soul, loving heart and unconditional love of children always made her days in the lunchroom special for her and the ones around her. After leaving the lunchroom, she stayed busy with her childcare business that brought many more children into her life and years of being "Grandma Mary" & "Aunt Mary" to many. She also kept books for Bill's Backhoe Service. When all of the "little ones" grew up, she went to work again in the cleaning business for Marsha Murphy; they took care of many businesses and homes in the community. She also delivered newspapers for several years. She worked until just before her 84th birthday. She leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her beloved husband Bill Sour, her two daughters Linda (Lynn) Pollard and Dixie (Wynn) Cassidy and son Travis (Shonda) Sour and a brother Robert "Bob" (Flo)Thomas. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Mary is preceded in death by her parents Bill and Bertha Thomas and her oldest brother William "Bill" Thomas. In lieu of flowers the family would like memorial contributions to be made to the VFW Auxiliary, Post 4801 in Pinedale or to the Pinedale Community Church. A celebration of Life will be held Saturday July 2nd at 11:00 AM at the Pinedale Community Church. Friends and family will gather at the Pinedale V.F.W. for a reception following the service.
