Obituary

Mary Ellen Schooley, 79, of Pinedale, passed away at her home June 25, 2024 with her family at her side. Mary Ellen was born January 3, 1945 in Afton, Wyoming to William E. and Idella (Michaelson) Yeaman. The youngest of four children, she has joined her three older brothers William "Bud", Dee, and Jerry. She completed her formal schooling in Afton and graduated from Star Valley High School in 1963.

Mary Ellen met the love of her life Donald Ray Schooley at her high school graduation, and a little under six months later, they were married in Afton on November 16, 1963. To this union were born three sons: Donald Jr., William "Bill", and Eric.

Mary Ellen worked in and served her community in several capacities. She worked at Skyline Movie Theater, Pinedale Variety Store, Barb's Variety Store and for 21 years as secretary for the Upper Green River Cemetery District, where she also recently served on the cemetery board.

She enjoyed the beauty of her surroundings and her home where she liked to garden and tend to her flowers and property. She also enjoyed baking and cake decorating and was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Mary Ellen is survived by her husband Don; sons Donald Jr., Bill, and Eric (Rebecca) Schooley; two grandchildren Catherine Schooley (Doug Hills) and Jeffrey (Jordan) Schooley; and two great-grandchildren Aurora Milner and Kytan Schooley.  She is preceded in death by her parents William and Idella Yeaman; and bothers Bud, Dee, and Jerry Yeaman.

A graveside funeral service will be held Saturday July 20th at 11:00 a.m. at the Pinedale Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to Kickin' Cancer in Sublette County, PO Box 687, Pinedale, WY 82941 and/or Symbii Home Health & Hospice, 770 S. Washington St. Suite B, Afton, WY 83110.
