Mary Kay Mitchell, 92, of Boulder, Wyoming passed away at the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls, Idaho on April 1, 2024. She was born on December 6, 1931 in Rock Springs, Wyoming to Brandt and Josephine Jensen.
Her early school years were at the bunk house on the family ranch and at the Olsen Schoolhouse. Her later school years were spent at Rock Springs High School where she graduated in 1948.
Kay married Henry Mitchell on August 13, 1950 in Pinedale and together had two children; daughter Dianna and son Tom.
In September of 1959 Kay became the Postmaster at the Boulder Post Office she remained there until September of 2003, retiring after 44 years of service.
After retirement Kay enjoyed visiting with family and friends, a little traveling, watching the hummingbirds and enjoying her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Kay is preceded in death by her parents Brandt and Josephine Jensen; husband Henry Mitchell; brothers James Jensen and Donald "Doc" Jensen.
She is survived by her daughter Dianna (Doug) Crawford and her son Tom Mitchell; grandchildren Amy (Pat) Coen and Ryan (Katie) Crawford. Also surviving Kay are her four great-grandchildren who lovingly referred to her as "Grandma Beege" Kami Coen, Brennan Coen, Gus Crawford, Ella Crawford and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in Kay's memory to the Boulder Community Center or the Museum of the Mountain Man.
