Marilyn Kay (Jensen) Penton, born December 7, 1948 suffered an accidental fall at home
early Friday morning, Marilyn was devastatingly unable to recover from surgery and passed
away June 21, 2019 at the age of 70. She was born in Rock Springs, Wyoming and was the
youngest surviving daughter of Lawrence and Mary (Tronquet) Jensen. She grew up in
Boulder, Wyoming on a small ranch with her siblings, Gary Jensen and Laura (Jensen) Lozier.
Marilyn spent her younger years attending school in a one room school-house. The Emerson
school house still stands as a memorial in Boulder today! Marilyn met her loving husband
John B. Penton in Pinedale while attending Pinedale middle school, but did not actually get to
know him until after high school. Marilyn graduated from Pinedale High School in 1967 and
for a time continued her education, taking a multitude of classes. After a long courtship
Marilyn and John were married on May 21, 1971, in Pinedale. Marilyn and John Penton were
blessed to have just celebrated their 48th anniversary. The couple will forever be the proud
parents of two beautiful girls, having their first child Sara Penton on April 4th 1977 and just two
years later on October 8, 1979, Sally (Penton) Wight was welcomed into the family! Marilyn
enjoyed being active in her community and was a member of the VFW Auxiliary. She
enjoyed many activities throughout her life including square dancing, bowling, healthy living,
arts and crafts. She enjoyed working with her hands, either in the garden at home or
crocheting a blanket for her children and grandchildren. Her crafty lifestyle is something that
made her very unique. Marilyn was very knowledgeable and passionate about living the
healthiest lifestyle she could. She enjoyed Naturopathic and Homeopathic medicines and was
eager to learn about anything new and share it with others. Marilyn always had a job, her
entire adult life. She was a hard worker and always did her job to the best of her ability. She
was a business owner of the Hobby Shop and Calico Corner, both in Pinedale while her girls
were young. Marilyn is forever loved and her memory always cherished.
Marilyn is survived by her husband, John Penton of Pinedale, both daughters, Sara
Penton, of Lake Stevens, Wa., and her son Jonathan White, Sally Wight (Austin) of Pinedale
Wy. their children Alexis Wight, Rachel Wight, and Kimberly Wight. and both siblings, Gary
Jensen (Joi) and Laura Lozier. She was also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by both her parents and a younger sister Wanita.
A memorial service will be held Saturday June 29th at 11:00 AM at the Pinedale Community Church.
Friends and family will gather for a reception immediately following the service at the church.
