John Francis Sims passed away on July 23, 2026 at his home in Marbleton, WY. John was born March 3rd, 1942 in Greybull, WY to Carl and Idalean (Crichton) Sims. John was the 6th child. He Had 5 brothers: Charles, Carl, Ernest, Dale and Wallace (Gene) and 1 Sister Lucille (Marie).
Growing up John lived on the Family Farm in Otto, WY where they raised sheep, bum lambs and beans.
John Married Faye Fine on March 3, 1966 in Cody, WY. To this union was born 2 kids: Butch in Colorado and Michelle (Leslie) in Minnesota. They later divorced. John went on to marry Linda Mayo and she brought to this union 4 girls from a previous marriage: Cynthia (Leroy) Greybull, WY, Michelle, Rebecca (Rock Springs, WY) and LeMira (Reliance, WY). John had many Grandchildren: Katelyn (Ray), Jessica (Edson), Melanie, Macayla (Tanner), Matthew, Keegan, James, Zeth, Brycin and More. John had many Great Grandchildren: Peyton, Jaycee, Moises, Waylon, Chance, Edson and one on the way, Zerrick, Zayleigh, Zella, Zavier and more. John also had many Aunts and Uncles, Nieces and Nephews too many to name.
John herded sheep out of school for Smoky Grabbert for a small period of time before he enrolled in the US. Army. John spent most of his life working in the oil patch. John lived many years in Big Piney but he lived in Rock Springs and Basin/Greybull before going back home to Marbleton.
John loved his children some from afar and some close. John loved talking to people and was never shy about talking to strangers wherever he was, he had friends from all over. He loved the mountains and had a passion for fishing and ice cream.
He had a special place in his heart from Dawn (Tracy) Moody. She took care of him to the end and made sure he was happy.
No Services are planned at this time. Donations can be made to the Senior Center in Marbleton, WY in his name or if you prefer to Dawn (Tracy) Moody for the care of the wild cats and birds, John really loved and which brought him so much joy to watch.
John was preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers, one granddaughter (Brycin) and one grandson (Keegan).
We ask that people always remember our Dad with a smile.
