James B. Austin who was born in Minot, North Dakota on May 11, 1946 loved traveling, hunting, fishing and most of all his soul-mate and wife of 46 years, Lorry. Jim had a unique Gift to touch many peoples' lives, influencing and inspiring at key inflection points in others' lives with his characteristics that spanned that of a father-figure, a school administrator, a mentor, a counselor and a friend. With all this love and commitment to those around him, it is comforting to those who knew him best that when Jim died on October 1, 2015 in the remote mountains of Wyoming he was in the area he loved, with people that loved him dearly and doing what he loved most. Jim is survived by his beloved wife Lorry Austin, son Phillip Austin, Brothers Don, Ken and Tim Austin and Sister Voni Kirkman. Jim was pre-deceased by Brothers Ted and Bob Austin, Mother Frances Austin and Father Ted Austin. The family would also like to thank the Tip Top Search & Rescue, Sublette County Sherriff's Department, Flying A Ranch and especially to the families of Don & Kim Myers and Eric & Kristen Lippincott for their wonderful love, care and compassion during this time. A memorial service will be held Wednesday October 7 at 11:00 AM at Covill Funeral Home in Pinedale.
