Iris LaRue Atkinson Harber passed away peacefully on May 16, 2025, in Provo, Utah, surrounded by her loved ones.

She was born on December 8, 1930, in Charleston, West Virginia, to Emma and Baines Atkinson. Iris was one of four children and was preceded in death by her sister and two brothers, her husband Bill and grandchild Brock. Raised on a dairy farm, she learned the value of hard work and developed the strong work ethic that would characterize her entire life.

Iris attended Brigham Young University, and on March 23, 1951, she married William Richard Harber (Bill) in the Mesa Arizona Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The couple started their lives together in San Bernardino, California, where they welcomed four sons: Paul Atkinson, John Baines, William Matthew, and Richard Lynn.

In 1961, the family moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, where Iris and Bill worked in the construction business and raised their sons. In 1978, they moved to Jackson, Wyoming. Sadly, Bill passed away just two years later, on December 3, 1980. In 1988, Iris returned to Las Vegas to work alongside her son, Paul in his construction business.

In 2009, she left to serve a mission in Florida for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Following her mission, she moved to Salt Lake City, where she volunteered at Church headquarters in the Missionary Department, overseeing vehicle titles—a role she faithfully fulfilled until 2021.

Iris loved fishing with Bill and camping with the boys. She was an excellent cook and had a love for sewing and quilting. She found her greatest joy in her family—her four sons, 15 grandchildren, and 36 great-grandchildren. She loved and supported each of them, and her warmth and strength will be deeply missed.

She will be laid to rest beside her beloved Bill in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, watched over by the beautiful Teton Mountains.
