With his son at his side, Harold "Howdy" Glenn Williams, Jr. joined his wife and parents in heaven on April 16, 2015. Howdy was born September 11, 1951 to Harold Glenn, Sr. and Elsie Mae (Prisk) Williams in Philipsburg, Pennsylvania. His father died on April 3, 1952, while serving his country in the Korean War. Howdy moved with his mother and second father, Gerald "Jerry" Schaffer to Wyoming from Pennsylvania, where they eventually settled in Big Piney. Jerry entered the loving arms of our Heavenly Father on December 28, 2009. Elsie was received in those same loving arms on December 28, 2012. Howdy graduated from Big Piney High School in 1969, where he excelled in sports. Upon graduation from high school, he attended and played football at the University of Wyoming. Howdy also attended Western Wyoming College in Rock Springs, Wyoming. Howdy married his one true love, Julene Denise Shorma on July 14, 1973. Their son, Matthew David was born on February 9, 1977. Howdy lost Julene and their unborn child on October 8, 1979. Howdy loved all things fast and loud, especially motorcycles, cars and guns. He spent the majority of his adult life working as a mechanic and in the oilfield. He possessed immense knowledge in many areas which he was happy to share. Howdy was blessed to have lifelong friends. Greg James and George Hook held special places in "Big Howdy's" heart. The stories they told about each other and the adventures they had together were precious to him. Howdy remained devoted to his wife throughout his life. He was simply, a Good Man; selfless, kind, caring, humble, strong and loving. He cared deeply for his family and friends and gave all he had to those around him. One of Howdy's most special qualities is that he never asked for, or expected anything in return. He gave for the simple joy of giving, and for no other reason. Howdy raised his son in his own reflection. His greatest pride was that he taught Matthew how to be a Good Man too. Howdy is survived by his son, Matthew, his wife Tara and their children, Tayton, Orin and Morgan. Siblings Gerald "GJ" Schaffer, Jr., Stacy Schaffer, Christopher (Tamara) Schaffer and Andrea (Rick) Atkinson. Julene's family, mother Bessie Shorma and siblings Gary (Amy) Shorma, Dennis (Beth) Shorma, Ellen Shorma and Janice (Tom) Hendricks. As well as numerous nieces and nephews. Howdy's family is beyond grateful for the loving care he received from the staff at the St. John's Living Center in Jackson, Wyoming. The staff there became a part of Howdy's family and he became a part of theirs'. Please join Howdy's family for a celebration of his life at St. Anne's Catholic Church, 421 Piney Drive in Big Piney on May 4, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. There will be a luncheon to follow at Sublette County Pioneers Senior Center, 111 Rakestraw Avenue. An undated document found in Howdy's belonging reads, "I hope to see no tremendous amount of black suits & clothing at these services, for that time for me will be a much happier time than it seems."
