Harold M Snow Jr. of Pinedale Wyoming, passed on December 3, 2020 at his home surrounded by family. Hank was born to Harold and Ida Snow in Harlowton, Montana on August 18, 1933. He would spend his childhood in Billings and Miles City Montana, where he graduated from Custer County High School in 1952. Upon graduation, Hank enlisted in the Army where he served in the 49th Infantry Scout Dog Platoon in Fort Ord, California. Upon completion of his service in the Army, Hank would attend college at Cal Poly Pomona where he majored in Animal Husbandry and was an active member of the Rodeo Club competing in intercollegiate rodeos. He would continue his service with the Federal Government for 11 years as a Livestock Inspector traveling through much of the western states during that time. While working an inspection at the Box R Ranch of Cora Wyoming, Hank would meet and later marry Melita Locher of Appenzell Switzerland in the fall of 1962. They lived in a small house in Pinedale, as Hank continued his work as an Inspector. Their first daughter Karen was born in 1963, and then two years later they welcomed their second daughter, Leslie. Shortly after the birth of their second child, Hank and Melita purchased Fall Creek Ranch where they would work side by side raising their girls and growing a successful cattle and outfitting business. For 17 years the Snows provided a ranching, fishing, and hunting experience to many who would travel to the Wind River area from all over the country and world. Hard work and dedication drove Hank every day and enabled him, alongside Melita, to provide a unique lifestyle for his family, as well as many others. In 1981, Hank and Melita would sell the ranch at Fall Creek, and they moved on to a quieter life on Fremont Butte Ranch, east of Boulder, Wyoming. Hank continued to guide fishing and hunting expeditions until 1993, when they would formally retire and build their dream home along the New Fork River, south of Pinedale. For 22 years, Hank enjoyed a quieter less demanding life, even taking up the art of carving wood decoys of geese, ducks, and an occasional mule. Hank was a man of extreme integrity and pride, hard-working and a loyal husband, father, and friend. He often presented with a rather gruff, tough exterior; but for those that knew him, he had the biggest, tender heart and would do anything for those close to him. Hank is survived by his wife of 58 years, Melita Snow, his daughters, Karen Snow and Leslie Snow Webber, grandson Dylan Andrews, and granddaughter Kendall Webber. A celebration of life is planned for the summer of 2021 and his ashes will be spread over his beloved Wind River Mountains. The family appreciates all the kind thoughts and gestures from those who have reached out during these very trying times of 2020.
