Evelyn Rose Long, 79, of Marbleton, Wyoming passed away Sunday March 8, 2020 at St. John's Hospital in Jackson, Wyoming. Evelyn was born July 10, 1940 in Carrizozo, New Mexico to Ruben and Margarete (Martinez) Chavez. She grew up with her siblings Ruben Jr., Patty, and Sandra and attended schools in Carrizozo and graduated from Deming High School in 1959. After graduation she joined and served her country in The United States Army. She married her lifelong sweetheart James Lamont Long July 8, 1961 in Carrizozo. Together they were blessed with their five children James Jr., Carla, David, Kenneth and Richard. Evelyn's priorities always revolved around her family. She was a loving, caring mother, grandmother and spouse. She enjoyed reading, bingo and gambling. She retired from Big Piney High School as custodian and was a member of the Catholic Church. Evelyn is survived by her husband James Long; children James Jr. (Carrie) Long of Pinedale, Carla (Chris) Hawley of Viola, David (Gia) Long of Lakewood, CO, Kenneth (Rebecca) Long of Marbleton, Richard (Danielle) Long of Big Piney and Cheryl Goodwine; siblings Ruben Chavez Jr., Patty Saucedo, and Sandra Lopez; grandchildren Mike (Kori) Long, Crystal and Clancy Warden, Holly (Dan) Tappenden, Heather (Nick) Jaquez, Nicole (Trevor) Anderson, Austin Hines, Cathleen (Jase) Hyde, Journey Jess, Taylor (Banning) Long, Lincoln and Matisyn Long and Kaleb and Karson Cline and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Saturday March 21st at 11:00 AM at the Marbleton Senior Center.
