Obituary

William James (Bill) Koch, 77, of Daniel, WY passed away on December 6, 2020 at St. John's Hospital.  Bill was born in Butte, MT on November 8, 1943, to Warren George and Lois Pauline James Koch.

As a toddler he moved to Jackson and resided there until 1957. The family moved to Daniel at that time to the ranch which became his beloved home. He attended elementary school in Moran, junior high in Jackson, and graduated from Pinedale High School in 1962.  He spent time at the University of Wyoming and Texas A & M.  Bill served in the Army; he was drafted in August 1965 and served in Louisiana, Maryland and Alaska.  He was released from service in 1967.

He married Linda Blackmon in 1969. Together they had a daughter and son before divorcing. Ashley and Aaron were Bill's pride and joy.  He was very proud of their accomplishments. The grandchildren that followed (Kali and Taron, Aaron's children) brought joy to his heart.

He spent much of his life working construction and being on Koch Ranch.  He formed his own company, Koch Construction. In 1997, he turned the company over to his son, but continued work beside Aaron taking joy in only having to be an operator not an owner.

He spent his time snowmachining, going out shooting, and driving around the countryside in his jeep checking out the happenings. Each day, he looked forward to his morning coffee and time to visit with friends.

He is survived by his daughter, Ashley (Laramie); son Aaron and Tonya (Daniel); and two grandchildren, Kali Mae and Taron; his sisters and brothers-in-law,  Marla and Lyle Watts (Sheridan, WY); Elizabeth and Alma Hubbard (Grace, ID) and Pauline and Woody Musig (Centerville, UT) and five nieces and nephews.  Cousins include Steve (Mavis) James and Kenny (Jeanne) James of Daniels and many others. Bill was preceded in death by his parents Warren and Lois Koch.

A celebration of life will be held in the summer. The family appreciates all the kind thoughts and warm wishes from those who have reached out. Donations on Bill's behalf can be made to Sublette County's Kickin' Cancer.
