Betty Jean Whitman, 77, of Big Piney, Wyoming passed away Friday April 3, 2020 at St. John's Hospital in Jackson, Wyoming. Betty was born November 12, 1942 in Lander, Wyoming to Woodrow and Cleo Von Bieker where she grew up and graduated from Fremont County Vocational High School in 1961. Betty was an avid lover of horses and she cared for others in her job as an EMT for many years in Lander. She is survived by her husband Ward Whitman of Big Piney; three children Gary (Alena) Naab of Aurora, Nebraska, Greg (Dayna) Naab of Alpine, Wyoming and Christina Codneys of Casper, Wyoming; sister Celia Askeland of Greeley, Colorado; step-children Erie Whitman, Holly Lassiter, Heather Turpin, Grant Whitman, Gail Whitman and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, one sister and two sons. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic no public services will be held at this time. She will be laid to rest in the Viola Cemetery and a celebration of life service will be held in the future.
