With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Barbara Harper, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend whose love and kindness touched all who knew her.

Barbara was born April 2, 1951 in Cortez, Co. to Ellis Leslie Snow and Benola Joann Snow. She passed on July 8th, 2026 at the age of 75.

She shared a beautiful marriage of 57 years with her devoted husband John Harper. Together they built a life filled with love, laughter and unwavering commitment. They especially enjoyed traveling together, making treasured memories as they explored new places side by side.

For more than 50 years, Barbara proudly called Big Piney, Wy home, where she created a life centered on family, hard work and the simple joys of homes. She had a remarkable gift for making friends and making them feel loved.

An exceptional cook, Barbara delighted in preparing meals that brought family and friends together around her table. Her home was a place of comfort, conversations and cherished memories. She was also a talented crafter, creating colorful handmade keepsakes that reflected her creativity and generous spirit.

Barbara found great joy in flower gardening, she lovingly tended to her gardens, filing them with colorful blooms that reflected her appreciation for God’s beauty and the changing season.

When she was not in Wyoming enjoying her flowers, she shared a home in Arizona with John and together they enjoyed the color-washed mountains at sunset with its many desert dwelling animals.

Above all else, Barbara’s greatest joy was her family. She was devoted and loving mother whose strength, wisdom, and unconditional love guided her 2 children throughout their lives. She was the proud grandmother of 7 grandchildren and a cherished great-grandmother of 9 great-grandchildren. Each generation brought her immense happiness and she treasured every moment she spent with them.

Barbara will be remembered for her warm smile, caring heart, generous nature and steadfast love for those around her. Whether she was creating something beautiful, tending to her flowers or setting on another adventure with John, she lived a life rich love and purpose.

Barbara was preceded in death by her father Ellis Leslie Snow of New Mexico and her mother Benola Joann Gilbert of Arizona.

Barbara is survived by her devoted husband John Harper of Wyoming, her son Wes Harper of Alaksa, grandson Zachary Harper of Alaska, grandson Aaron Harper (wife Darla) North Carolina, granddaughter Mara Harper (fiancée Nyree) of Alaska, daughter Danna Harper Shepard of Colorado, granddaughter Shelby Harper (fiancée Lance) Colorado, granddaughter Ashley Ostowick (husband Tyler) Colorado, granddaughter Lindsey Schelhaas of Colorado and nine great-grandchildren.

Though she will be deeply missed, here legacy of love, kindness and devotion continue to bloom in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.

A Celebration of Life is planned for August 9th, 2026 from 11AM-1PM at the Southwest Sublette County Pioneers Senior Center located at 429 East First St. Marbleton Wy. All are welcome and encouraged to attend, cake and refreshments to be served.
