Anita Catherine
McCutchan
May 2, 1952 — May 18, 2026
Cora
Anita Catherine McCutchan, 74, passed away on May 18, 2026. She was born on May 2, 1952 in Woodward, Oklahoma to John and Maria (Partido) Ybarra. She was the baby of the family with three older brothers John, Louis and Jim, who she loved dearly. Her mother passed away when she was 6 years old and she was raised by her father and older brothers whom she adored. She graduated from Woodward High School in 1970 and shortly after she met and married Robert McCutchan on March 21, 1971. They welcomed four children together Anissa, Charlee (Shane), Robert McCutchan II, who passed shortly after birth in 1981, and Melissa (Ben). She gained two sons-in-law that she loved with all her heart.
The family moved around in the early years and finally settled back in Woodward. She pursued her Licensed Practical Nursing degree in 1977. She worked at Woodward Memorial Hospital until 1985, when the family made the move to Pinedale, Wyoming. She began working for Sublette County Retirement Center in August of 1985 and remained with them until her retirement after more than 35 years. She truly loved being a nurse and caretaker to the residents and their family members. There were even a few that became family to her. She never lost her recollection of them or the people she worked with and made so many friends. Her patience, kindness, and gentle spirit was felt by those she cared for and her coworkers.
Anita, was a devoted mother and grandmother, whose eight grandchildren Christopher, Kaisha, Morgan, Catherine, Chaz, Dane, Emma and Sadie were the light of her life along with her two great grandchildren Corbin and Penelope. In her free time, she enjoyed being with family the most, but also loved camping, fishing, being outside and reading. Camping trips were one of her favorite pastimes.
She was a kind, loving and generous person. Her funny and often witty personality made it easy for her to make friends and she made so many that loved her dearly. Her guidance and reassurance will truly be missed by those she loved. The world will be a dimmer place without her presence but we know she is with the Lord now and her suffering has ended.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son, and brothers John and Louis, her mother-in-law and father-in-law Charles and Gayle Hurst, who she was very close to and her sister-in-law Juanita.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, her girls, grandchildren and great grandchildren, her brother Jim (Della) Ybarra, sister-in-law Paula (Harvey) Wright, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2026 at 11:00 am at Rendezvous Pointe, 425 E. Magnolia St., Pinedale Wyoming. She was cremated per her wishes.
